More than 300 Olympic and Paralympic athletes shine at the Inclusive Games

Madrid, Oct 17 (EFE).- More than three hundred Olympic and Paralympic athletes, some of them from Chile, Mexico, the United Kingdom or Poland, shined this Thursday at the second edition of the Inclusive Games held at the High Performance Center of Madrid.

The competition had five exceptional ambassadors such as the Romanian Nadia Comaneci, the first gymnast to obtain a perfect score at the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games; Cuban Javier Sotomayor, holder of the world high jump record since 1993; swimmer Teresa Perales, winner of 28 medals in seven Paralympic Games; the Moroccan Hicham El Guerrouj, who has held the world record for the 1,500 meters since 1998, and the British Jonathan Edwards, world triple jump record holder with 18.29 meters since 1995.

“It is an honor to be here. Until now we had only been able to enjoy these Inclusive Games on one occasion and this time we have added international athletes. It is incredible. What we are doing here is history and we have to replicate it in the rest of the world,” he said. Pear trees.

In the first edition, held in 2021, they brought together 170 Spanish Olympic and Paralympic athletes. This year the number rises to almost 300 and, for the first time, there will be international athletes from Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, the United Kingdom or Poland.

The sports that were part of these second Inclusive Games are chair handball, karate, fencing, archery, hockey, athletics, badminton, chair basketball, judo, swimming, rugby, taekwondo, table tennis and triathlon. EFE
