Kanu, who won the tournament once in 1976, told Le Site Info that the Atlas Lions currently have one of the best players in Europe.
The former Arsenal star also praised the revolution in Moroccan football and stressed that the team’s achievements are the result of years of hard work.

“But this generation of players is unmatched. Yassine Bounou, Achraf Hakimi… the skill and talent of the entire squad makes this team the clear favorites for the upcoming African Cup of Nations.”
“I played against Morocco at the African Cup of Nations in 2000 and 2004… They always went into the tournament as favorites but often failed to realize the dreams of millions of Moroccans.
“By hosting the African Cup of Nations at home, Morocco has every chance of winning the tournament.”
He added: “I have no doubt that the Atlas Lions will not let the next Africa Cup of Nations slip away, especially since the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be the host nation.”
