A total of 9,806 athletes (6,166 players, 3,640 executives and officials) from 17 cities and provinces across the country, the largest ever, will participate in this competition. In particular, Ho-won Jeong, who won 10 consecutive boccia titles at the last Paris Paralympic Games, Jin-ho Park, who won two gold medals in shooting, Jo Jung-doo, who won a gold medal in his first Paralympic appearance, and Young-geon Kim, men’s table tennis player, who overcame an injury to win the gold medal after three attempts. All medalists will participate, including Ki-tae Kim, who won the silver medal in wheelchair fencing, Hyo-kyung Kwon, who won the silver medal in wheelchair fencing for the first time in 36 years, and Soo-young Yoo, the rising star who won the silver medal in badminton.
The National Sports Festival for the Disabled has been the best stage for disabled athletes to showcase their skills since it was first held in 1981. Since 2016, we have been operating a club in parallel to continuously discover new disabled athletes and steadily expand the base of sports for the disabled. This year, a total of 31 sports will be divided into the athletes’ division and the hobbyist division, and the previous year’s demonstration events, Showdown and Shurun, will be promoted to official events and a variety of games will be played along with goalball and boccia to add interest.

Following her attendance at the opening ceremony, Vice Minister Jang Mi-ran visited the competition site on the 26th to watch the games of each sport and cheer on the athletes.
