During his experience in Los Angeles, LeBron James had never won in his debut of the new season. Tonight’s game win against the Minnesota Timberwolves would have been though unforgettable regardless of the resultas James has added another memorable page in his never-ending career. In fact, with 4 minutes left in the second quarter, LeBron is back on the court with his son Bronny, in his absolute debut among the professionals after being chosen at number 55 in the last draft. An entry into the historical field: it had never happened in NBA history that father and son were in the league at the same timenor even on the same team. The two combined on a couple of occasions in the attacking half of the pitch, in particular with 1:38 left in the first half when LeBron assisted Bronny for a three-point shot which, however, did not find the back of the net, one of two shooting errors for James Jr. after a flying offensive rebound attempt that was unsuccessful. Bronny was on the court for 2:41 before returning to the benchwhile James senior began his 22nd season in the league – also a record, shared with Vince Carter – with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocksdespite shooting rather poorly from the field (7/16 of which 1/4 from three in less than 35 minutes).
The Jameses with the Griffeys before the match
Before the game the James have posed for a photo with the Griffeys, the other famous father-son duo to play together in the history of American professional sports. It was 1990 and we were talking about MLB baseballwith Craig and Ken Jr. sharing a locker room at the Seattle Marines. “Being here today with them in the stands is a very beautiful moment in the history of sport” LeBron said before the game when talking about Griffey’s presence. Besides the Griffeys and the Jameses, the other two father-son pairs to play together in the history of professional sports were the Howes (with hockey legend Gordie who was able to play alongside his sons Mark and Marty) and i Raines (Tim and Tim Jr. for the Baltimore Orioles in baseball).
