NBA, Towns says: ‘I found out about the exchange 4 minutes before the others’

For every New York Knicks player, the passage to the seat of “The Roommates Show” is almost obligatory. Karl-Anthony Towns he certainly couldn’t help but be hosted by Jalen Brunson and Josh Hartnew teammates who have been running a fairly successful podcast for some time. Not four minutes into the episode, Hart got straight to the point and asked Towns how and when he learned of the exchange which brought him to the Big Apple. “In the afternoon I trained and everything was fine; then in the evening nothing was fine” began Towns. “I found out about this about four minutes before Shams Charania’s tweet who announced the trade, the shock had barely worn off.” What surprised his interlocutors, however, was the way he found out: Hart asked him who had called him to tell him and was dumbfounded when KAT replied “No one”. “Tim Connelly came [[il capo della dirigenza dei T’Wolves, ndr] to my house to tell me in person, which is something I respect. He showed up alone, I was at home with three of my dear friends and my dad, we were five against one and we could have gone crazy but he did it anyway. It would have been a difficult situation anyway, but I can respect him for behaving this way”. A respect that both Brunson and Hart, decidedly surprised by the revelation, shared towards Connelly.

Towns: “I thought I was going to retire to Minneapolis”

For KAT it was still a huge changeas the Minnesota Timberwolves were his only career team for nine seasons and he still had a very long contract (one of the reasons why the T’Wolves decided to sell him). “I thought I would retire there… but my former employers didn’t agree” he said later on the podcast, also describing how it was “incredibly strange” playing against the T’Wolves in the preseason. “It took me several minutes to realize that it was real, It seemed strange to me to study the videos of Edwards and McDaniels and see that I was on the pitch too.”. In his opinion, however, it is better that it happened in the preseason: the first return as an opponent in Minneapolis, scheduled for next December 19thhowever, it will be a completely different story.
