NBA: Wembanyama will not play against the Utah Jazz

Victor Wembanyama, the rising star of the San Antonio Spurs, will be absent for the preseason match against the Utah Jazz, scheduled for the night of this Saturday to Sunday. Rested by his team, the French pivot will not be able to help his teammates, joining Devin Vassell on the list of absentees, the latter being injured.

So far, Wembanyama has only played one preseason match, in which he contributed to the Spurs’ victory against Orlando (107-97). It was a chance to check out his pairing with Chris Paul, a combination that raises a lot of hope for the upcoming NBA season. However, during this meeting, the number one in the 2023 draft did not shine, recording 11 points with a low success percentage (4 of 15 and 0 of 5 from three points), while adding 9 rebounds and 4 balls lost to its statistics.

The Spurs, who are looking to build a competitive team around their young prodigy, will have to do without him for this match, but the coach and staff hope that this rest will allow him to return to form for the start of the regular season.
