She was considered the last chance for a blue medal and responded. Kayaker Nelia Barbosa won silver at the Paralympic Games this Sunday, September 8, for the last day of competition, during the 200m KL3 event. At 26, the native of Lisbon offers her 75th and last medal to the Blues, who manage to enter the Top 8 hoped for at home.

Already a silver medalist in Tokyo, Nelia Barbosa crossed the line in 47 sec 91, and was only beaten by the British Laura Sugar, defending champion (46.66). The German Felicia Laberer took third place, synonymous with bronze. Nelia Barbosa competes in the KL3 category, intended for paddlers with problems with the functioning of a leg, a foot, or who do not have one of these limbs.

The other Frenchman entered in the Vaires-sur-Marne basin, Abel Aber, in the va’a event, a Polynesian canoe, took sixth place in his final.

France ends its Paralympic Games with 75 medals, a much higher total than during the last Paralympic Games in Tokyo. The Blues had then gleaned 54 charms. The French team finished the competition in 8th place in the medal table, within the set objective, between Ukraine and Australia. Small downside: the French delegation aimed for 20 gold medals and only obtained 19. But we’re not going to quibble…

Update : at 2:45 p.m. with the final result on the medal table.
