The Dutch men and women achieved a good qualifying time in the team sprint event at the Track Cycling World Championships in Denmark. Both teams therefore have a favorable program heading into the final tonight.

The men are considered the big favorites for the world title in Ballerup. After all, no tinkering has been done on the ‘Bullet Train’ that won gold at the Olympic Games in Paris. Starter Roy van den Berg takes care of the first round, followed by Harrie Lavreysen and finally Jeffrey Hoogland.

World Track Cycling World Championship live at NOS

The world championships last from Wednesday 16 to Sunday 20 October and can be followed live on NOS via NPO 3 and a livestream. From Wednesday to Saturday, the medal events take place in the evening and the TV broadcast on NPO 3 starts at 7:30 PM. Images can be viewed via a livestream from 6:30 PM.

Some finals are held early in the evening and can only be followed via a livestream: including the scratch with Lorena Wiebes (Wednesday at 7 p.m.) and the points race with Philip Heijnen (Friday at 6.30 p.m.).

The overviews below show what time Dutch people take action on the endurance events and what time the sprint finals are in which Dutch people participate (in case of qualification).

The men recorded the fastest time in qualifying and will compete against the slowest team from qualifying tonight for a place in the final rounds. The Netherlands is going for its sixth world title in this event.

British women the fastest

Among women, the Netherlands is an outsider for victory. The Netherlands finished fourth at the Olympic Games, but silver medalist New Zealand is absent in Denmark and Germany, which won bronze, has fielded a completely different team. Olympic champion Great Britain is present in full force.

The British were ultimately fastest in qualifying, followed by the Netherlands. At 6.30 pm the women have to record a set time again. They will then play against Poland in the first round.

The first world title will also be awarded in the endurance events tonight. The women will ride the scratch at 7 p.m.

A striking name is participating on behalf of the Netherlands: Lorena Wiebes. She has just come from her road season, where she became European champion, among other things. In Denmark she is making a bid for the world title with her strong sprint.
