“Unlike other editions, the delegation’s participation will be financed with provincial resources,” they clarified in the statement itself.

Neuquén has great athletes throughout history who have participated in the Evita Games. For those who did not continue practicing their discipline, it still represented a very important experience from a human, cultural and recreational perspective.

Some of the sports in which Neuquéns stood out in the different editions are football, handball, basketball, cycling, badminton, boxing, athletics, judo and taekwondo.

The importance of the Evita Games is supported by its history, since they were created by Dr. Ramón Carrillo in 1947, at the beginning of the first Peronist government. The event is a pioneer in its style in the history of mass social sport in Latin America.

Why the government decided to support

Governor Figueroa announced the Neuquén representation a few days ago and expressed: “With great joy, I want to tell you that with our athletes we are going to participate in a new edition of the Evita Games.”

The Minister of Human Development, Local Governments and Women, Julieta Corroza, indicated that “these Games allow us for our boys and girls to have recreational, training and sports activities that improve their quality of life.”

In that sense, the Secretary of Sports and Youth, María Fernanda Villone, highlighted the governor’s decision to accompany this initiative and added that “the history of our province in this type of competition is respected and it is a strong investment that the provincial government is going to to be carried out so that our adolescent boys and girls can participate in these very important Games.”
