New Orleans Pelicans extend mega talent Trey Murphy

More action before the rookie extension deadline! The New Orleans Pelicans are giving youngster Trey Murphy III a new mega contract.

According to information from NBA insider “Marc Stein”, Trey Murphy III will receive a new four-year contract with the New Orleans Pelicans at significantly higher salaries. The 2021 first-round pick will earn $112 million with his franchise.

Murphy III, who was linked to a trade to the New York Knicks in the offseason, did not include any player option or bonuses in his new working paper, according to ESPN.

However, Murphy will probably miss the season opener against the Chicago Bulls on the night from Wednesday to Thursday (from 2:00 a.m. in the live ticker on ran.de). The 24-year-old suffered a hamstring injury during training that jeopardized his ability to play.

The youngster was a crucial factor in reaching the playoffs last season and played his best season in a Pelicans jersey with an average of 14.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. In the playoffs he failed in round one to OKC.
