It seemed increasingly likely that Tom Pidcock would leave INEOS Grenadiers after this season, but according to Daniel Benson there is a new plot twist. The cycling journalist writes on his own website that the expected transfer to Q36.5 Pro Cycling will not take place after all, as INEOS Grenadiers has withdrawn from the negotiations.
Pidcock seemed to be about to leave INEOS Grenadiers for a new adventure with the Swiss formation Q36.5 Pro Cycling, Benson reports. “INEOS Grenadiers was even prepared to pay part of his salary after his departure,” writes the respected journalist.
“However, Pidcock’s transfer appears to have fallen through after negotiations between the rider and the British team over his departure terms collapsed over the past 48 hours.” INEOS Grenadiers is said to have subsequently withdrawn from negotiations with the team management of Q36.5 Pro Cycling.
And so Pidcock seems to ‘normally’ play for INEOS Grenadiers next year. And while there have been tensions between rider and team for some time. This became fully evident in the run-up to the Tour of Lombardy. The British formation did not introduce Pidcock – despite his good form the Course of the Falling Leavesafter which the multi-talent showed his displeasure.
The 25-year-old Pidcock still has a contract with INEOS Grenadiers until the end of 2027. He has been competing for the main force of the British team since 2021 and has achieved great success on the mountain bike, in the field and on the road in recent years. In the summer he became Olympic champion on the mountain bike. In the spring he was the strongest in the Amstel Gold Race.
