NFL Injuries: Marvin Harrison Jr, Chris Olave and Dallas Goedert hit in Week 6

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. left Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers with a concussion on Saturday.

The fourth overall pick in the last draft collapsed at 6:28 of the second quarter when his head collided with the thigh of Packers linebacker Isaiah McDuffie after a pass to Harrison fell incomplete.

Harrison was helped off the field by Cardinals trainers and, after being evaluated in the blue injury tent on the sideline, he left the field and was escorted to the locker room by a team of trainers and doctors from Arizona.

He was sent off shortly after the start of the second half.

Olave hit hard in the head

Saints wide receiver Chris Olave was ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers due to a concussion that occurred during the first quarter.

Olave was hit in the helmet after receiving a pass from Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler three minutes into New Orleans’ first attack. Olave lost his grip on the ball as it fell to the ground, and the ball was picked up and returned 58 yards for a touchdown by Antoine Winfield Jr.

Olave began walking with the athletic trainers after the game, then ran the remaining distance to the sideline, where he went to the injury tent to be evaluated for a concussion. He then returned to the locker room before being excluded from the match.

Terrible injury for Aidan Hutchinson

A frightening scene at AT&T Stadium marred the Detroit Lions’ performance when star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson suffered a gruesome leg injury.

Hutchinson injured his left leg when he made a sack on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. Hutchinson’s leg was broken above the ankle when it collided with the left leg of teammate Alim McNeill, as Hutchinson was pulling Prescott to the ground.

Hutchinson’s leg was placed in a pneumatic cast while he was placed on a gurney.

Members of the Lions and Cowboys quickly rallied around Hutchinson as team doctors rushed to his side.

Hutchinson, the second overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, was quickly ruled out with a lower leg injury.

His 7.5 sacks this season are the most after five games for a Lions player since 1983 (William Gay), according to ESPN Research. Entering Week 6, Hutchinson led the NFL in sacks.

Goedert touched from the start of the match

Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert left Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns with a hamstring injury.

Goedert was injured during the first series of the game. He spent some time in the medical tent on the sideline before heading inside the locker room.

Grant Calcaterra and Jack Stoll took over in his absence.

The Eagles also lost a key piece of their defense, cornerback Darius Slay Jr., to a knee injury.

Goedert, 29, has 24 receptions for 301 yards this season. His average of 75.3 yards/game is the best among tight ends in the NFL.

The Broncos lose their star on defense

Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain II, coming off his second career two-interception game in Denver’s win over the Raiders last week, left Sunday’s game against the Chargers after just one play on defense .

Surtain was removed from the game with a concussion after being examined by the Broncos medical staff as well as the independent neurologist who was on duty at the game.

On the Chargers’ first offensive play, an incomplete pass from Justin Herbert to Ladd McConkey, Surtain’s right arm became trapped under McConkey and both fell to the ground. McConkey rolled over when he hit the ground and Surtain’s helmet hit the ground at the end of the play.

Surtain immediately put his hands on his helmet and shook his head as the team’s medical staff examined him on the field. He walked off the field with the coaches, hands on the sides of his helmet, and was briefly examined in the blue medical tent on the sideline before leaving toward the locker room.

Surtain was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week last week after throwing two interceptions, including one he returned 100 yards for a touchdown, in the 34-18 win over the Raiders.

Jerome Ford falls in battle

Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford was forced to leave Sunday’s matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles with a hamstring injury.

He was injured on the Browns’ second possession. He spent some time in the medical tent before heading to the locker room. The Browns initially said Ford was doubtful to return before ruling him out for the rest of the game.

Ford was Cleveland’s leading rusher this season, with 250 yards on 48 carries. He carried twice for 14 yards before getting injured.

Ford’s injury comes as the Browns are expected to welcome back four-time Pro Bowler Nick Chubb for Week 7. Chubb is expected to make his debut against the Cincinnati Bengals in Cleveland next Sunday, a source told ESPN, completing his return from a serious left knee injury that required two surgeries last year.
