The short prison sentence was planned and part of an agreement between the former baseball player and the authorities. His arrest in Tyler, Texas, on February 3rd was his third drunken driving misdemeanor. In addition to the short prison sentence, he was also sentenced to five years probation.
After his arrest in February, Mahomes Sr. was released on $10,000 bail. In September, Mahomes Sr. told reporters he had stopped drinking after the arrest.
