NFL: The Browns must turn to Bailey Zappe

The quarterback situation with the Cleveland Browns continues to be talked about.

In the absence of starting quarterback Deshaun Watson, who tore the Achilles tendon in his right foot on Sunday and will miss the rest of the campaign, and backup quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who is hampered by an injury to finger, the Browns had to come to terms with quarterback Bailey Zappe. The latter played on the practice squad of the Kansas City Chiefs, two-time defending Super Bowl champions.

Zappe has made eight starts for the New England Patriots over the past two campaigns. The 25-year-old signed a pact with the Chiefs after being released by the Patriots earlier this summer.

Zappe will provide some insurance for the Browns behind Thompson-Robinson and Jameis Winston, who could get the start this week against the Baltimore Ravens.
