Daniels headed to the locker room in the first quarter to be evaluated by team doctors after suffering a rib injury and did not return to the game.

The Commanders crushed the Panthers 40-7 and could have played it safe with Daniels. Veteran Marcus Mariota replaced him at quarterback, but the LSU alum returned to the sidelines to encourage his teammates.

In his first season in the NFL, the second overall pick in the last draft got his career off to a flying start, winning four of his first six starts.

The 23-year-old completed 75.3% of his passes for 1,404 yards. He threw six touchdown passes against two interceptions. Daniels also added 322 rushing yards and four touchdowns.
