Nick Kyrgios follows up on controversy surrounding Jannik Sinner

Tennis superstar Jannik Sinner defeated record Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic in the final of the ATP tournament in Shanghai. But due to the controversy surrounding positive doping tests in the spring, many fans continue to view the Italian with suspicion. This also applies to tennis professional Nick Kyrgios, who is already one of his harshest critics.

Nick Kyrgios has hardly missed an opportunity in the past few weeks to express his dissatisfaction with the processing of the positive doping findings for world number one Jannik Sinner. After the 23-year-old’s victory at the Shanghai Masters against Novak Djokovic (7:6, 6:3) on Sunday, the Australian has now followed up.

The 29-year-old responded to a critical comment on the short message service Ridiculous.”

In the comments, others also took the side of the Sinner critics, although there were also many positive comments about the Italian.

Tennis competitors against Sinner’s acquittal

In mid-August, the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) announced that the tennis superstar tested positive twice for the banned steroid Clostebol in early March.

Sinner stated that he had been massaged by one of his carers, who had treated his own wound with the steroid. A court found this explanation to be credible, so the tennis professional was acquitted. That acquittal was harshly criticized by Sinner’s colleagues such as Kyrgios and Denis Shapavalov.

Meanwhile, Jannik Sinner triumphed against Novak Djokovic on Sunday after just 1:37 hours with 7:6 (7:4), 6:3, thus preventing the Serb from winning his 100th title for the time being. He later admitted openly: Sinner was “simply too good, too strong, too fast”. Thanks to his title in China, Sinner will remain at number one in the world rankings until the end of the year.
