Niefang and Ebibeyin triumph in the Badminton championships of the Bata 2022 National Games

MALABO, OCTOBER 19. (OCHIRANOTICIAS) – The Equatoguinean Badminton Federation has concluded its competitions in the Bata 2022 National Games, highlighting the performances of Carlos Santiago Enzema and Lucía Okomo, who won the medals representing their districts.

Badminton began its competitions with the men’s singles, but Ebibeyin did not appear in the previous two round of 16 matches, allowing his opponents, Micomiseng and Djibloho, to advance to the quarterfinals.

In the round of 16, two Niefang representatives faced each other in the first match, where Mariano Ndong defeated his compatriot Adrián Ngomo 2-0. In the second quarterfinal match, Nsok Nsomo beat Niefang 2-0 Mongomo defeated Micomiseng 2-0 in the third match of the quarterfinals, and Niefang, represented by Carlos Santiago, defeated Djibloho 2-0 in the last match of this phase.

In the semifinals, in the first match, two Niefang players faced each other again, where Carlos Santiago defeated Mariano Ndong 2 to 0. In the second semifinal, Nsok Nsomo also beat Mongomo 2 to 0.

In the final, Niefang won 2-0 against Nsok Nsomo in a very close match in both sets.

Third place went to Mongomo and Niefang (Mariano Ndong). All of them, in the masculine phase.

In the women’s singles, there was also an absence, this time from Akurenam, allowing Ebibeyin to advance directly to the final. In the second semi-final, Micomiseng defeated Evinayong by 2 to 1. In the final, Ebibeyin defeated Micomiseng by 2 to 1 in a match where Lucía Okomo of Ebibeyin began by losing the first set, but managed to recover and became champion of the Games Nationals. The final score was 14-21, 21-19 and 21-16.
