The National Union of Professional Footballers (UNFP) formalized the election of David Terrier as president this Saturday, October 12.
Fifty-five years later, the UNFP is changing face. Philippe Piat, who led the French players’ union for more than half a century, has found his successor. David Terrier, a former FC Metz player who has been gaining more and more space in recent years, was elected this Saturday. He becomes the fifth president in the history of the National Union of Professional Footballers (created in 1961) after Just Fontaine (1961-1964), Michel Hidalgo (1964-1969), Philippe Piat (1969-2024) and Sylvain Kastendeuch ( 2006-2022).
Philippe Piat, who had announced that he would not seek a new mandate in March and September, will retain his status as honorary president of the UNFP, whose Steering Committee of 20 members was also elected, for a period of four years.
