Olivier Dall’Oglio forced to achieve a result in Angers

While ASSE travels to Angers this Saturday, Olivier Dall’Oglio presented himself at a press conference this Thursday. Present, we transcribed his words. Excerpts.

Olivier Dall’Oglio (Entraîneur de l’ASSE) : “I have the same observation that I made after the first half. It was not consistent enough, especially against a team that imposes a big physical impact. We were not up to par, whether in terms of commitment or on a technical level. We could also count ourselves lucky not to be trailing further at that moment, just 1-0.

It was precisely at that moment that we had to react, because the score was still playable. The players knew how to pull themselves together, and I found the reaction very interesting. This leaves us with some regrets. As much as the first half did not arouse any, in the second half, we can harbor some remorse. When we conceded the second goal, that’s when the team accelerated, especially with the changes made. We had two clear chances to equalize at 1-1, and that’s when we conceded that second goal, which really hurt us.”

ASSE – Angers, the best enemies

Olivier Dall’Oglio (Entraîneur de l’ASSE) : “At the end of this type of match, there is a big disappointment, because we really hoped we could do something. But it’s also a learning experience against European-level opponents. We can clearly see that the intensity of the races, the physical impact, and the movements are greater, and if we want to compete at this level, we will have to raise our game.

We must learn lessons from this. We still have room for improvement to make up, but it is a question of work, investment, and also ambition. If we are not ambitious in the face of this situation, we will not move forward.

There will be other matches. The next one against Angers will be very important, as was the one against Auxerre. These are matches where you absolutely have to take points. The context of these confrontations must allow us to learn and progress. There are positive points to note, despite everything. This team is moving forward, even in difficult times. She is progressing, just like us. Recent results, like the one against Marseille, or the fact that they are not far from winning in Toulouse, show that they continue to progress. Us too, although the difference is that we managed to win more matches.”

Good Angevin memories

Olivier Dall’Oglio (Coach of the AXIS) : “I notice that the teams that are coming up, with relatively similar numbers, encounter the same problems and share the same objectives. In a way, they are our best “enemies” in this fight. History repeats itself a little. But it It is true that these matches always remain important, whether in Ligue 2 or now in Ligue 1. These are crucial meetings for both teams.

In terms of management, I don’t think there are big differences. The psychological pressure is the same in this type of matches. When we played against Auxerre at home, there was a lot of expectation, and again, that’s the case. For them, being at home, the pressure is also high. However, this does not really influence the way we approach the match.

Regarding my memories, the first that comes to mind is that of the Cardona match. That’s where it really started for us. This match was taken very seriously from the start, and we showed a lot of solidity throughout the match. It was a complete match, punctuated by a very good goal which gave us a lot of confidence. I hope we can build on that to regain that same confidence. We know that when you have confidence with the ball, things go better. And if we bring back a good result from there, we will be more and more comfortable.”
