Olympic Games/Archery: “Marie Horáčková, world champion, ready and impressed by the Invalides site”

Radek Beránek: “She is as ready as possible, but the best archers in the world are ready too… It’s going to be difficult, but I feel she is motivated, full of desire to go. She’s been there for a week, they can’t wait for it to start. »

It’s a family affair on his side. His mother (Barbora Horáčková), now deceased, was an archer herself. It’s his father who trains him today. How does this play into his preparation?

Radek Beránek: “It certainly plays a role because it’s an environment in which she grew up. Her mother was at the Beijing Olympics, she was a very good archer. His father was a very good archer too. Archery runs in his family, it runs from father to daughter, everyone does it, even his sister, she knows everything. »

Radek Beránek, you are the vice-president of the Archers des Prés Dorés club in Arcis-sur-Aube in France – last time you told us that you were at the origin of the arrival of Marie Horáčková in this French club, which is What could it have brought him, being a member of this club before the Paris Olympic Games?

Radek Beránek: “Last year she told us that it helped her prepare for the world championships. From the start of the season, during the team competitions in the first division, the level was very high. She was able to face the best French archers. She won the first individual rounds, she gained confidence. These are competitions which pit very good archers against each other, because the level in France is very good. For her, it’s interesting. In the Czech Republic, there is no one of his level. It allows her to shoot against girls who are at the same level as her. »

Marie Horáčková will compete in mixed events with Czech archer <a href="https://www.archysport.com/2022/04/adrian-munoz-advances-to-the-olympic-round-in-the-archery-world-cup-noticel-the-truth-as-it-is-noticias-de-puerto-rico-noticel/” title=”Adrián Muñoz advances to the Olympic round in the Archery World Cup – NotiCel – The truth as it is – Noticias de Puerto Rico – NOTICEL”>Adam Li. Was he able to train with you in Arcis-sur-Aube?

Radek Beránek: “I don’t know him yet. We don’t have a men’s team, so unfortunately I can’t offer him anything. We don’t have that opportunity as a club, but if he wants to come with Marie, they can always come and compete in the individual competition. If he’s interested, that’s no problem. »

Thursday morning, we enter the hard part, does that mean we can’t miss an entry?

Radek Beránek: “It’s best not to miss out. It starts with qualifying. All archers who qualify for the Olympics will go to the final, elimination stages. But the place in the qualifications will determine your opponent of the first match, of the first duel. If you are at the end, you will face someone who is very high up, necessarily better prepared than you. So it’s better to be very high so as not to face an archer who has the same level, even if they are the best archers in the world. »

“The qualifications are important for the mixed teams, because there are only sixteen teams that will be able to qualify. »

Marie arrived a week ago, what are her first impressions?

Radek Beránek: “She really liked the shooting range, because the archery events take place at Les Invalides. The setting is really splendid, it’s not a football stadium or anything else. The setting is impressive, so everyone likes it. She came a week before to be able to train on the field, to prepare in peace, on site, to concentrate on the final adjustments, the last individual or mixed training sessions. »

Update: Marie Horáčková was named flag bearer of the Czech delegation this Wednesday afternoon alongside judoka Lukáš Krpálek.
