Hradec Králové footballers won the fourth round of the MOL Cup over Loko Praha 1:0 and secured their place in the round of 16. The only goal of the match was scored in the 31st minute by Votroků striker Griger, for whom it was already the third goal of the season. Hradec also managed the second match in the domestic cup and can look forward to their opponent in the round of 16.
The third league opponent certainly did not make it easy for East Bohemia. He played unpleasant football to the body, he did not want to say goodbye to the domestic cup, even if his prospects were slim. “We envisioned the development of the match somewhat differently. We had several opportunities in the first fifteen minutes that we should have turned into goals,” assistant coach Lukáš Vácha said after the match.
In the end, the only goal of the match was scored by Votrok’s lanky forward Griger, who is getting into a good shooting mood. In the last three matches, he scored two goals, in total the summer signing in the black and white jersey already has three goals. Václav Pilař assisted on the goal, who found the Slovakian shooter in the small area with a skillful pass.
Hradec could have regretted the opportunities from the beginning of the match, which made the cup duel a bit confusing for them. The people of Prague were uncomfortable and especially at the end they had several opportunities with which they could have dramatized the course of the match. “In such matches, we have to convert these chances to make things easier for ourselves. After that, we are unnecessarily nervous until the last minute,” thought Votrok’s stopper Karel Spáčil.
“On the other hand, I’m glad that we managed to win today. We came here for progress, which we accomplished. And I think that is the most important thing,” concluded the youth representative. He and the entire Votrok team are waiting for a home duel with Slavia Prague on Sunday from 18:30.
