One of Rome’s most famous faces has died, mourning in sport

A terrible loss has struck the world of sport in recent hours: the city of Rome shocked by his passing

Boxing mourns the passing of the master Cesare Venturini. The announcement was made by his gym, AS Audace Boxing (a stone’s throw from the Colosseum), with a post published online. Venturini held the role of president of the oldest gym in the city of Rome (founded in 1898). His heart stopped beating at the age of 75.

He dedicated much of his life solely and exclusively to the world of sport. So much so that many, especially after his passing, continue to praise him for having been a key figure in boxing and beyond. A man, as he was described, of very high human values ​​and who was always ready to help others.

The temple of boxing was born as a sports club 123 years agoalso excelling in many sports. First of all for football (so much so that the Audace of football even merged with Roma). Then it was the turn of the wrestling, judo, athletics, fencing, weightlifting and much more. Furthermore, a room has also been dedicated to the gym to the tenor Beniamino Gigli.

Although the first years were not at all easy as the gym encountered many difficulties. Suddenly, however, there was a positive change: after having redone its “look” it became a center of boxing excellence. A place that, over the years, has had the pleasure and honor of hosting many famous people in the world of boxing.

Among those who trained in his gym the names of: Nino Benvenuti, Cassius Clay (in his infancy), Leone Efrati, Mario Bianchini, Enrico Urbinati, Aldo Bentini, Vincenzo Cantatore and indeed one of the greatest of all come Mike Tyson. He leaves behind his wife Anna (who acts as vice president), his sons Fabio and Gabriele (first teachers and then event organizers) and many people who thank him and remember him fondly for everything he was able to offer.

Without forgetting, moreover, that important actors such as Sylvester Stallone. A gym that has been, for many years, a set for many film projects and commercials. Also Flavio D’Ambrosinumber one of FederBoxe, wanted to remember him with a message: “A column of Italian boxing leaves us. A guide and example for the boxing movement. We grieve for the pain of the family and of Audace Boxe.”
