Öster stormed towards three points and a good position in the fight for an Allsvenskan place.

Then the bottom team Varberg was responsible for a powerful turnaround with three straight goals.

Then the match was tied with two goals in half a minute.

Östers IF is chasing an Allsvenskan place and Varberg is fighting to stay in the super league.

The home team broke the deadlock already after 21 seconds played. When they then extended it to 2–0 after half an hour, everything spoke for a home victory.

The second half was a completely different story. Visiting Varberg reduced the score after a few minutes and when there was barely a quarter of an hour left to play, the visitors had scored two penalties and turned the game around.

– A crazy match. It could have been 4 or 5-0 in the first half. Then they get a goal from nothing and it feels like the goal changed the feeling in the match and they got their faith back, says Öster’s coach Martin Foyston in the Max TV broadcast.

Crazy ending

The home team rose to level the game in the 89th minute – only to see Varberg’s Olle Edlund make it 3-4 around 30 seconds later.

– Honestly, I didn’t run a hair dryer or anything like that, but I really just said that we have chosen to believe in it, says Varberg’s coach Roar Hansen regarding the half-time talk.

Öster remains in second place, which means promotion, but is on the same points as third-placed Landskrona, with three games left to play.

Varberg takes a shot in the tight bottom battle and climbs to tenth place. Only one point separates Östersund in the qualification place.
