DFB demanded in Bosnia: Nagelsmann has to rebuild

Julian Nagelsmann has to adapt his line-up for the game in Bosnia and Herzegovina to complicated circumstances. After a flood of seven cancellations and injuries, the national coach in Zenica is forced to improvise.

The substitution begins at the goalkeeper position. Alexander Nübel from VfB Stuttgart will make his international debut at the age of 28 and replace the injured Marc-Andre ter Stegen (torn patellar tendon).

A four-man chain is to be expected in front of it: captain Joshua Kimmich on the right, Antonio Rüdiger and Jonathan Tah in central defense, Maximilian Mittelstädt on the left. As usual, Pascal Groß and Robert Andrich should play on the six.

Returnee Serge Gnabry will probably be needed on the right wing from the start after a year’s break due to the absences of Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala. Florian Wirtz could play on the left, and Deniz Undav could play in the middle as a hanging leader. That in turn would probably mean the debut of Tim Kleindienst in the attack center – or would Jonathan Burkardt play for the first time? “You can assume that one of the two will start,” said Nagelsmann with a smile.

The expected lineups:

Bosnia and Herzegovina: Vasilj/FC St. Pauli (28 years/11 international matches) – Barisic/FC Basel (23/6), Katic/FC Zurich (28/5), Bicakcic/Eintracht Braunschweig (34/38), Kolasinac/Atalanta Bergamo (31 /58) – Burnic/Karlsruher SC (26/4) – Gazibegovic/Sturm Graz (24/19), Gigovic/Holstein Kiel (22/6) – Huseinbasic/1. FC Cologne (23/4), Dzeko/Fenerbahce (38/136), Demirovic/VfB Stuttgart (26/28). – Coach: Barbarez

Deutschland: Nübel/VfB Stuttgart (28/0) – Kimmich/Bayern Munich (29/93), Rüdiger/Real Madrid (31/74), Tah/Bayer Leverkusen (28/31), Mittelstädt/VfB Stuttgart (27/8) – Groß/Borussia Dortmund (33/10), Andrich/Bayer Leverkusen (30/12) – Gnabry/Bayern Munich (29/45), Undav/VfB Stuttgart (28/4), Wirtz/Bayer Leverkusen (21/25) – Kleindienst/Borussia Mönchengladbach (29/0). – Trainer: Nagelsmann
