The players and technical staff of Almere City have decided to fully compensate the supporters who were present at the cup disgrace against Quick Boys by refunding the amount of the match ticket. The Premier League player surprisingly lost 3-0 against the amateurs from Katwijk on Wednesday evening.
The club provides a brief explanation on its own website about the decision to switch to full compensation. “The game shown and the result were far below par. The team and staff are ashamed of last night’s poor performance. That is why they have decided to fully compensate all supporters who had purchased a ticket for Quick Boys-Almere City FC. These supporters will be notified by email.”
Difficult season
The cup elimination is the next chapter in a difficult season for Almere City so far. After ten games, the Flevolanders are in seventeenth place in the Premier League with six points.
Last week, coach Hedwiges Maduro‘s team recorded the first win of the season against NEC on their own field: 1-0.
Clear words from Maduro after cup disgrace: ‘We should all be ashamed’
After the cup match, Maduro was obviously not happy with the performance of his team in front of the Omroep Flevoland camera.
“We should all be ashamed of the way you lose. We start the match weakly. That’s just a certain attitude. You lose your duels and at a crucial moment you get a red card and a penalty. Then you get these kinds of matches .”
