Palermo is ready for Modena, Dionisi: «We have to have a championship with 8 and now we have 6»

«We have to have a championship of 8 and today we are at 6. We need to bring out more. In some moments of the match we run late and arrive later. Something more is needed in terms of mentality, which then goes hand in hand with the game. We don’t race on others but on ourselves. If I have to draw a line, we are below what we can do. We are improving, the numbers don’t change in two games. We have to kick more, improve our precision and it’s all part of the mentality.” Alessio Dionisi asks for more personalities from Palermo to move up the table. The championship break is over and we return to the pitch to respond to the criticism. The day after tomorrow afternoon Palermo will be on stage in Modena to make up for their home defeat in the previous round, against Salernitana. The coach continues to appear confident in his position and returns to the sender the criticisms which, from many quarters, are aimed at the game plan, the 4-3-3 that the Rosanero have been adopting for a few years.

«There is no problem of form – underlines the Palermo coach – if anything we need to be more effective. We have the quality to put the numbers back together. On a defensive level we are looking for the best possible balance. Opportunities are given to opponents. To choose the gaming system we start from the characteristics of the players. We are working to improve, there is no problem with the form, it’s just mentality. During the match we can play with two attackers together and I don’t rule out that it will happen. With Salernitana we could have dared more in terms of mentality, it has nothing to do with the game system. Let’s not create false problems.” On paper the Emilians seem to be opponents within the reach of the Rosanero team. But the cadet championship demonstrates, day after day, that easy predictions can be misleading. A point of view that is that of Dionisi: «The match against Modena is difficult, their coach, Bisoli, knows the category, at home they benefit a lot from the support of the public. They are a vertical team, dangerous on the dead ball, with individual qualities. There is no obvious match in Serie B. Two teams who achieved less than they deserved will face each other. We have to respect Modena, but we can beat them. We won’t have to allow restarts, our opponents are very good at this fundamental; we have to play in areas of the pitch that are not risky.”
