Badly embarked on in the German capital on Tuesday evening for the sixth day of the Euroleague, Paris Basketball raised the bar in the money-time of the game against Alba Berlin (92-83).
Paris Basketball has made waves in Germany. Tuesday evening, as part of the 6th day of the Euroleague, the Parisian club blew away victory at Alba Berlin (92-83) thanks to a crazy final quarter. Thanks to this success, Tiago Splitter’s gang balances its record in the intercontinental competition with three defeats and therefore three successes. But the mission was difficult for the Parisians who really did not take the match the right way at the Uber Arena, the home of the 2024 Final Four.
Nadir Hifi’s teammates were in fact quickly behind (9-22 in the 6th minute) to end this first quarter with a delay of ten points (26-16). But little by little, Paris Basketball regained efficiency and precision in shooting while Alba Berlin seemed less successful at the basket but still in front at the break (44-37).
Hifi and Ward on fire
It was in the second half that the Parisian club pushed the meters to the limit in the wake of a fiery Nadir Hifi (25 points) well helped by his teammate Tyson Ward (23 points, 3 rebounds). In the third quarter, Tiago Splitter’s team stuck a nine-point gap to Alba Berlin in total points scored thanks to ultra-offensive play which bore fruit. With 52 winning shots for 20 scored, Paris Basketball beat the German club at the post despite a fairly average shooting percentage throughout the game (40% compared to 48% for Alba Berlin).
However, this victory allows the French vice-champion to return to the Top 10 of the Euroleague rankings and therefore, to advance to the final phase. To hope to stay there in the long term, Paris Basketball would be inspired to win on its floor this Friday against Vitoria.
