Paris signs a major feat by beating Panathinaikos, reigning European champion

In Bercy, the Parisians achieved a magnificent feat despite a stressful end to the game, against the Greek club Panathinaikos (84-80) for the 3rd day of the Euroleague.

The feat is resounding. Paris Basket tamed the Greek club Panathinaikos, reigning European champion, seven-time winner of the competition and led by its French Olympic vice-champion Mathias Lessort (84-80), this Tuesday evening in the Euroleague. In a match played exceptionally at Bercy (and not at the Arena de la Porte de la Chapelle), the Parisians were led by a very great Nadir Hifi, author of 20 points and two assists. Opposite, the French Lessort responded with also 19 points, three assists but above all 11 rebounds.

The players of Tiago Splitter, the coach of the Parisian club, dominated the first three quarters (21-19, 24-20, 24-20) but cracked slightly in the fourth (14-21). TJ Shorts, Nadir Hifi and their gang held firm in defense to contain the Greek attacks which multiplied at the end of the game. Paris even got a big scare seeing Panathinaikos come back to just three points, almost on the gong… But the capital’s players did it.

Paris Basket is fully relaunching in the competition after suffering two defeats during the first two days, at home against Belgrade and against Milan on October 11. This success will be confirmed this Thursday, against Bayern Munich.
