Paris wins a new Ile-de-France derby against Nanterre

For this Parisian derby, it was Tyson Ward who propelled Paris Basketball to an 8-0 after two minutes of play, and two three-point shots and an interception for the American winger. Philippe Da Silva’s time-out does not change the dynamic. Kevarrius Hayes scores on an offensive rebound to make it 10-0. If Benjamin Sene unlocks the Nanterre 92 counter, the dynamic remains unchanged despite the first Parisian rotations after only 3 minutes of play (14-5). Talented, Milan Barbitch and Desi Rodriguez manage to keep Nanterre 11 lengths at the end of the first quarter (30-19) despite the good entry of Nadir Hifi already author of 7 points.

In the 2nd quarter, Tyson Ward widened the gap a little further after a dunk on the counter-attack and a new 3-point basket, well served by Enzo Shahrvin dominating the offensive rebound and counterattacks (41-25). Once again, the Nanterian timeout does nothing. Collin Malcolm goes 7-0 with two new drives and a long distance basket (50-25, 18e). With pace, a 2+1 from Benjamin Sene and 11 points in 13 minutes for Justin Tillman, Nanterre slightly reduced the gap at halftime: 52-34.

The hope of a Nanterre return will not last long with an 11-0 start for Paris Basketball (including a 3/3 three-pointer while Nanterre is still stuck at 0/5 long distance): 63-34 , 23rd. Still trailing 79-55 after 30 minutes, Nanterre will get closer to 13 lengths on a three-point shot from Ahmad Caver and a hot shot from Benjamin Sene, author of seven consecutive points (85-72, 34th). In failure for a good part of the match, Sebastian Herrera recorded the victory for Paris Basketball after his second 3-point basket (98-81, 38th, then 102-86 final score).

With seven players at 8 points or more, Paris has never been worried and confirms his excellent start to the season (4 victories in 5 matches), unlike Nanterre (4 defeats in 5 matches) who will face Chalon next Saturday in a very high-stakes match at the bottom of the standings. Winner of three derbies last season, plus the last of the 2022/23 financial year, Paris has not lost against its neighbor since September 27, 2022.
