Paul Pogba, whose suspension for doping has been reduced from four years to eighteen months and will end in March 2025, wants to resume his career at Juventus Turin, he explained to La Gazzetta dello Sport. “I am willing to give up money to be able to play again with Juve, I want to come back with this club,” declared the French international in an interview published Wednesday October 16 on the sports daily’s website.

“The reality is that I am a Juve player and I am preparing to play with Juve,” continued the 2018 world champion, whose contract with the Piedmontese club expires in June 2026 and guarantees him an annual salary of eight million euros. During his suspension, he receives the minimum provided for in the Serie A collective agreement, namely a little more than 2,000 euros per month.

Since the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) reduced his suspension for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) doping in August 2023 from four years to eighteen months, the Italian press has been reporting that Juve is seeking to terminate Pogba’s contract. The statements of Juve coach Thiago Motta gave credence to this thesis. The former PSG player spoke of the Frenchman in the past tense: “He’s been a great player, he hasn’t played for a long time.”

Pogba, 31, admitted he had not met Motta, “more, he assured, “I want to be ready to train and play with Juve, I’m a Juve player, in my mind there’s only that right now.” he insisted. Since his return to Serie A in July 2022 after six seasons at Manchester United, Pogba, whose 2022-23 season was disrupted by a serious knee injury, has played only 12 matches (213 minutes of play, zero goals ) and has significantly tarnished its image.

“It will be a new Pogba, hungrier, wiser and stronger (…) I only want to play football,” promised “The Pickaxe”. The midfielder assured that he did not see himself “not wear the jersey of another Italian club” and presented the campaign launched by his former teammate Patrice Evra to see him join Marseille as “a prank”.
