Financial situation in relation to salary cap

  • The Luxury Tax threshold is set at 170,814,000$ this year.
  • The NBA Salary Cap is set at 140,588,000$ this year.
  • The threshold for the Premier Apron is set at 178,132,000$ this year.
  • The Second Apron threshold is set at 188,931,000$ this year.

Fourth largest payroll in the Eastern Conference, logical given the status of the team. The Philadelphia Sixers have exceeded the milestone of the First Apron, but not the Second, synonymous with numerous penalties in this new CBA.

The trio of stars earns a lot more money than the rest of the squad, there is no inconsistency to note in the financial table of the city of Brotherly Love!

Players under guaranteed contracts for the 2025-26 season:

  • Joel Embiid
  • Paul George
  • Tyrese Maxey
  • Caleb Martin
  • Jared McCain
  • Adem Bona

Kelly Oubre, Andre Drummond and Eric Gordon also have a player option at their disposal. If they decide to stay, the watchword in Philadelphia could well be continuity.

Three players to watch this season:

  • Guerschon Yabusele : the Blues player has a second chance in the NBA. But he only signed for one season at 2 million in the Great League, he will have to establish himself in a competitive workforce, but without too much competition for position 4. With a successful year, he would make it official his return for several years and with a much bigger salary.
  • Kelly Oubre Jr. : as previously written, the flamboyant winger only has one season of contract before potentially being able to activate a Player Option. On his good days, he is worth more than his current contract and if he manages to gain consistency, he could finally find stability in the NBA.
  • Kyle Lowry et Reggie Jackson : both players will be in the fight to become Tyrese Maxey’s back-up. They have the same contract, the same duration (namely one year) and the “competition” will be interesting to follow to see who stays the following season. If Kyle Lowry doesn’t retire of course.
