The Robert Fontana Memorial finally takes off for Piacenza Baseball too. After continuous postponements due to bad weather which postponed the debut by about ten days, the red and whites can begin their journey in the event organized by Milano 1946 and now in its third edition. Tomorrow afternoon the Piacenza team is away to Parma (4pm) at the home of Crocetta, the top team in the Emilian group. So far the ducals have always won (14-7 with Poviglio and 6-0 with CollecchioSala) and are determined to win the group that would qualify for the semi-finals.

Thirteen teams divided into three groups participate in the “Fontana”. Piacenza Baseball was the one most affected by the bad weather with therefore still several recoveries to play. Conversely, in the other groups the calendar was fully honored without postponements and the situation sees Milan and Seveso in the run-off in group A, which also includes Cairese, Novara/Ares and Braves Bollate, and even three out of four competing in group B where only Legnano appears cut and Codogno, Rho and Brescia still in the game.
In addition to the three winners, a place in the semi-final will be reserved for the best second place and therefore every match will be decisive until the end. Piacenza will be forced to play midweek recoveries to complete all the matches before the final weekend of the tournament set for 26-27 September.
