The final of the Race of Champions has marked the badminton weekend with the participation of Huesca La Magia, CB Binéfar and VV Osca. A tournament that was to be an Aragon championship for the lower categories. The worst news was the serious injury of Huesca player Amanda Dieste. She started as a favorite in the Under-15 category and in her first individual match she suffered an injury that points to a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in her anterior knee. An action that was reminiscent of what Carolina Marín suffered in the Olympic Games and that was a setback for the Huesca delegation displaced to Alfajarín and that will presumably keep Amanda away from the track for a long period as she says goodbye to the season.

As for results, good harvest for Huesca La Magia. In Sub-11Lucía Rodríguez won the singles and also the mixed doubles partnering with Martín Coronas. The latter also won the individual championship.

In U-13, In the mixed doubles Lucía Rodríguez and Martín Coronas were runners-up and Andrés Oliva was fourth.

The six players who came from CB Binéfar managed to get on the podium, completing a good day for the club: Hugo Arias, Jorge Foj, Nerea Marco, Lucas Montiu, Nicolás Quintilla and Hugo Montiu.

In sub 13 category Jorge Foj was proclaimed champion by winning his three matches ahead of his clubmate Hugo Arias, who was runner-up after winning two matches against Darío Marín from Bádminton Teruel and Andrés Oliva from Bádminton Huesca and losing the decisive one, but not without making things difficult for them. to his partner Jorge Foj.

In doubles, Jorge and Hugo played the direct final against Lorenzo Dieste and Andrés Oliva in which those from Binéfar won in two sets in a beautiful match. In this way they would be proclaimed champions. Thus, Jorge was proclaimed champion in both modalities and Hugo was twice awarded.

In sub 15 category the only representation of Nerea Marco by the club, who fought for every point to become champion in both modalities, individual and mixed doubles with José Alberto Borjas.

In singles, Nerea won her first duel against Inés Iranzo from badminton Teruel in a good two-set match. In the second match he played a great match against Olalla Herrero from Alfajarin badminton. A match that would require three sets where Nerea was gaining pace and despite losing the first by a tight 19-21, she was able to recover and win the second by 21-18 and in the third, a tied set until the final stretch where Nerea maintained the very focused head and took the set and match 21-16. From the club they wish Amanda Dieste, who aimed to be the rival in the final, a speedy recovery and a lot of encouragement.

Already in mixed doubles, Nerea and José Alberto would be proclaimed champions by winning their three matches with very good play. In this way Nerea would be proclaimed champion in both modalities.

In sub 17 category, The only representative of the Binefarense club was Lucas Montiu, who did not do too badly either. In individual he managed to sneak into the final which he would lose against Dani Sánchez from Daroca badminton in a good match in which Lucas’ good progression was seen. Already in doubles, he would form a pair with Xavi Gracias from Alfajarin but despite playing great matches, they did not manage to sneak into the podium positions.

Lucas was proclaimed under 17 individual runner-up.

And now in sub 19 category, Hugo Montiu was proclaimed champion after beating his clubmate Nicolás Quintilla in a nice match where Nico did not make things easy for him. The other match was played against Kike Carabasa from Alfajarin in a nice match that he managed to win in two sets.

Nicolás would lose to Kike in two sets in a match where things did not end up going well. In this way, Nico would be in third position.

In doubles, Nico and Hugo were proclaimed runners-up after losing the final against Kike and Dani.

VV OSCA, GOOD CLOSING

The VV Osca traveled to the Zaragoza town with Alba Cejalvo, Vega Morer, Sara Sorribes, Clara Tormo and Emma Bibián, the five players who had managed to reach this final phase, after adding up the points obtained in the different territorial tournaments organized by the Aragonese Federation.

The couple formed by Sara Sorribes and Clara Tormo managed to win the victory in the under-15 doubles category while their teammates Vega Morer and Alba Cejalvo finally also had to compete in sub-15 and finished the competition in a creditable third position.

As a culmination of these good results, Emma Bibián was proclaimed champion of Aragon in the under-19 individual category and put the finishing touch to a successful day for the club.

ANDREA MINGARRO (HUESCA), RUNNER-UP IN GUADARRAMA

The Huesca La Magia player Andrea Mingarro, who has participated in a TTR tournament in Guadarrama, has returned with the runner-up position in the women’s doubles, partnering with Victoria Burgos (Villalba) after losing in the final against the Madrid-based Díaz-Lutra by 21-16 and 21-7.

Individually, Andrea reached the semifinals, where she faced Sheila Díez, who in the end would take the trophy. The Huesca team fell 21-16 and 21-11.

Raúl Bergua lost in the second round in the international Junior tournament in Denmark. In the first round, the Huesca player beat the Dane Max Villadsen by 21-12 and 21-18. And in the second round he was beaten by fellow local Tobias Larsen 9-21 and 16-21.

In doubles, Bergua was paired with Mario Rodríguez but they met in the first round with the number 1 seed, the German couple Marzuan-Niemann, who won 21-15 and 21-17.
