Paul Pogba, after having already announced the end of his career, now wants to return to playing, after his punishment for doping was reduced from four years to just 18 months, with the end in sight next March. In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sportthe former French international talks about his ambition to return to play for Juventus.
On Tuesday, in another interview, in this case with the newspaper The Teamthe 31-year-old midfielder had already said that «football is the strawberry cake that was taken out of my mouth when I did nothing». An idea reinforced, now, in the interview with the Italian newspaper, but with batteries aimed at Juventus, his last team.
Pogba begins by saying that, after a long period without playing, a different player will return. “It will be a new Pogba: hungrier, wiser and stronger. I trained alone this year and I’m ready to return to normal in 2025. I only have one desire: to play football”, he began by saying.
As for Juventus, Pogba says he never felt abandoned. “There was never a lack of love from the fans. I couldn’t have contact with Juve’s directors for legal reasons, but many of my former teammates have always supported me. Cuadrado called me every two days and always made me laugh. Dybala sends me a lot of messages. And also Vlahovic, McKennie, Weah, Kean… I didn’t even expect so many, because each of us has our own problems in everyday life», he said.
From March onwards, towards the end of this season, Paul Pogba will be able to return to the pitch, but he has not yet spoken to Thiago Motta, Juventus coach. «I didn’t have the opportunity to see him or talk to him, but that moment will come. I think I’ll be back, ready to train and play for Juve. I feel like a Juve player. That’s what my head tells me today,” he said.
The midfielder says that there will be no need to speak to Thiago Motta, he will just need to get on the pitch and train. «I don’t need to talk, the field will talk and then Thiago Motta will judge with his own eyes, based on what he will see. Talking is good, but I want to play for Juventus and the France team, I want to be the best”, he comments.
Pogba is willing to do anything to have a new chance in Turin and even admits to playing for a lower salary. “I’m willing to give up some money just to play for Juventus again. I want to go back”, he further insisted.
