The streaming provider Netflix is ​​now known for its sports documentaries – and basketball fans among its subscribers have already had a lot to see.

In the documentary series “The Last Dance,” for example, the rise of Michael Jordan to become the undisputed NBA legend. The one and a half hour film “The Redeem Team” was about the US national team, which wanted to prove itself again after the disappointing 2004 Olympic Games.

Another basketball documentary has been available on the platform since October 9th: In the first season of “Starting 5,” several NBA stars were followed during the past season, giving viewers up-close and private insights into the players. In the 2023/24 season, Jimmy Butler, Anthony Edwards, LeBron James, Domantas Sabonis and Jayson Tatum were followed by the cameras.

“Starting 5”: Two veteran stars in the second season

The series was well received by viewers, because last Tuesday Netflix made it official that there would be a second season of “Starting 5”. In the newly started NBA season, the focus is on completely different players: Jaylen Brown (Boston Celtics), Kevin Durant (Phoenix Suns), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City Thunder), Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers) and James Harden (LA Clippers ).

It is not yet clear when the next season of “Starting 5” will be shown. However, there are many indications that those responsible will follow the approach of the first season and publish the new episodes before the start of the new season.
