Portugal Triumphs Over Poland 3-1 in Warsaw: Match Highlights & Analysis

Poland initially created some dangerous moves, but Portugal quickly entered the game, had a ball hit the post and almost scored with a shot by Bruno Fernandes from the edge of the area. The Seleção was controlling the game as they wanted, trying to score in Warsaw.

In defense, Robert Lewandowski still hovered around Diego Costa’s goal but was duly canceled at the time of the decision.

Portugal responded effectively through Bernardo Silva, who scored 0-1 in the 26th minute. Just before the break, captain Cristiano Ronaldo, at 37, scored the second (0 to 2).

In the second half, Portugal added missed opportunities, worried about keeping possession of the ball and the Poles were motivated by a goal from Zielinski (1 to 2), with just over 10 minutes remaining.

As the final whistle approached, Portugal made it 1-3, with an own goal, a result that rested the Seleção.

With a new triumph, Portugal now has nine points from three games, moving away again from Croatia (6 points), which this Saturday beat Scotland at home, still without goals, while Poland has three points.

Portugal faces Scotland on Tuesday in the fourth round of the Nations League/qualification for the 2026 Euro Cup.

Portugal won the first edition of the Nations League, in 2019, having then failed to qualify for the “final four” in 2020/21 and 2022/23.
