Principal Badminton Trophy-2024 | DNGC hosts 2nd edition

ITANAGAR, Oct 28: The Dera Natung Government College (DNGC) Badminton Club organized three-day 2nd edition of Principal Badminton Trophy-2024, themed ‘Khel, Swastya Aur Ekta’, which concluded here on Sunday.

The tournament saw 20 men’s doubles teams and eight singles teams with participants from teaching and non-teaching staff. Seven institutions of Capital Complex, including Rajiv Gandhi University, NERIST, Don Bosco College, Jarbom Gamlin Govt Law College, Rajiv Gandhi Polytechnic, Hills College of Teacher Education, and DNGC took part.

DNGC principal Dr. M.Q. Khan, addressing the  valedictory function, stressed the role of sports in fostering all-around development of both body and mind. He highlighted importance of sports involvement, especially for faculty in higher educational institutions, to prevent life from becoming monotonous. He lauded organizing chairman Dr. Taro Sindik, organizing secretary Dr. Joba Riba and physical education teacher L.R. Singh for success of the event.

In men’s doubles category, Prof. Gibji Nimasow and Tanil Tabang (RGU) were declared winners, defeating Dr. Joba Riba and Joram Mama (DNGC). In men’s singles, Dr. Joba Riba (DNGC) beat Dr. Taro Sindik (DNGC) to claim the winner’s trophy. Tanil Tabang was named ‘Player of the Tournament’, Prof. G. Nimasow as ‘Best Smasher’, Dr. P. Devachandra Singh (NERIST) as ‘Stylish Player’ and Timothy Dupak as ‘Emerging Player’, who were awarded by Dr. Khan and RFU joint registrar Dr. David Pertin.
