PSG-Strasbourg: “Before, the team depended on individuals and that is no longer the case,” says Luis Enrique

After two games without a win, PSG found its way to success this Saturday evening against Strasbourg (4-2). A valuable success which allows the Parisians to regain the lead in Ligue 1, tied on points with Monaco. After the match, Luis Enrique analyzed the performance provided by his players, the winning turnover and said he was satisfied to see his team no longer depend on individuals.

Homophobic chants were chanted at the Park. What is your reaction?

LUIS HENRY. I don’t know anything.

What is your main satisfaction from the evening?

If I have to analyze this match, I believe that it is common to play complicated matches after an international break. But we achieved two objectives: to win against an opponent who had only lost one match this season and to keep the players affected by the international break warm so that they could recover.

What did you think of Senny Mayulu’s performance? Did you speak to him before the meeting?

I didn’t tell him anything special. He is a player who, last season, could leave and he stayed. I am very satisfied, he is a player with a lot of physical qualities. He scored one goal, he could have scored three. He is a player with a future, I am very satisfied that he stayed in Paris. We will have a lot of joy with him.

More generally, how do you judge the integration of young players into the PSG project?

We were facing a very young Ligue 1 team. But we like this philosophy where we have young people who can develop. There must be matches with tension and for young people to have this growth, I believe they must feel that we have confidence in them and that they can play this type of matches. I think that’s what we’ve shown since last season.

“It’s incredible to be a PSG player and to play at the Parc”

Can we say that PSG is strong with the weak and weak with the strong?

We are not changing our idea of the game. Our objective is to be stronger with 23 players than with 13 players. The Champions League has nothing to do with Ligue 1. It’s different. We are preparing in the best way possible. Tonight it was spectacular. We are privileged to have these players at PSG. It’s incredible to be a PSG player and to play at the Parc. You have to take advantage of it.

What state is the group in physically?

He’s fine. We are at the start of the season, there are a lot of matches because most of our players are international. So there is a lot of workload, distant trips. There is no rest for all players but we have achieved our goal of resting players who have traveled.

You have conceded another goal from a set point, what is the solution to resolve this problem?

It’s football. C’est la vie mon amour (in French).

Is it a satisfaction to have seen your team score thanks to four different scorers?

My goal is to develop the team. Before, the team depended on individuals and this is no longer the case. There are a lot of players who can score, but I don’t care who scored or made assists. What interests me is that everyone participates in the attack and the defense. The goal is to win titles and play in the best way possible.
