Rain of medals: Laupheim judoka fight internationally

On October 12th, the judoka from TSV Laupheim – Therese and Alma Pfeil as well as Emilia Juhas – successfully competed at the 48th International Lake Constance Championship in Bregenz. The fighters showed strong performances in the U10, U12 and U14 age groups and were able to secure several podium places.

Alma Pfeil fought in the -30 kg weight class, in which both boys and girls competed. In the strong group, Alma Pfeil showed an impressive performance and achieved second place out of a total of eight participants. She won her first two fights with technically versatile judo and defeated opponents from Dornbirn and Montafon. In the exciting final she met an opponent from Neustadt, against whom she lost after a balanced fight due to a shoulder throw.

Emilia Juhas and Therese Pfeil competed in two age groups, U12 and U14. In the U12 age group, Therese Pfeil easily won first place in the -52 kg category after two victorious fights. Emilia Juhas, who fought in the -40 kg weight class, secured second place after two fights. In the U14 age group, Therese Pfeil achieved second place after two fights, while Emilia Juhas took third place in her category after three fights.

The tournament in Bregenz offered the young athletes a valuable opportunity, as different techniques were allowed here than in Germany. For example, grabbing the collar and throwing from a kneeling position was permitted, which in Germany is only permitted in older age groups. These experiences represented valuable preparation for the coming season, in which Emilia Juhas and Therese Pfeil will be able to compete in the U15 in Germany.
