With just a couple of touches on the ball, Raúl Jiménez‘s scoring instinct resolved the play to send the ball to the goal. The Mexican seems to be on the rise in his efforts to return to the elite of netbreakers and now stood out with a goal, although his team, Fulham, lost 3-1 against Aston Villa in the English Premier League.

Only five minutes had passed on the clock when Jiménez received a long pass, at high speed he surpassed defender Pau Torres to finish with a left-footed shot and beat goalkeeper Emiliano Back Martínez, world champion with Argentina.

Thus, Jiménez gave his team an important advantage while increasing his good scoring streak after having scored a goal for the Mexican team in the friendly against the United States.

In statistics with Fulham, Jiménez already has four goals this season, while it was the fifth consecutive game in which he has scored a goal or collaborated with an assist.

On this occasion, Jiménez’s effort remained an individual achievement as Fulham failed to take care of the score they had in their favor. Aston Villa equalized just four minutes later with a goal from Morgan Rogers.

Fulham had a chance to regain the lead when Matt Cash committed a handball inside the area. Jiménez, already confident as a scorer, asked for the ball to take the maximum penalty, but the Brazilian Andreas Pereira beat him in an argument and shot a penalty from the 11th step that was saved by Back Martínez.

In contrast, Aston Villa was more accurate in the attack and turned the corner with a score from Ollie Watkins (59). It was then that desperation led Fulham to make vital mistakes, as Joachim Andersen (64) saw the red card, while Issa Diop (69) sent the ball into his own goal.

Aston Villa also finished the duel with 10 players on the field after the expulsion of Jaden Philogene (90+3), a minor damage after having achieved a victory that propelled them to the fourth step in the classification zone to the Champions. In turn, Fulham is ninth with 11 points after eight games.

The also tricolor Edson Álvarez could do little to help West Ham, who was beaten 4-1 by Tottenham. The defender came on as a substitute in the 61st minute.

In Italy, Johan Vásquez had a difficult day in Genoa’s 2-2 draw with Bologna. The Mexican failed when he tried to deflect a shot from rival Riccardo Orsolini that gave the red and blue squad the advantage, so his team redoubled its efforts to get back on the scoreboard.
