A traditional and emotional event, in which the members of five teams from different categories have shown off the ‘weapons’ with which the most successful club in Huelva sports will fight for another year to reign in Spanish badminton.

The event was attended by the mayor of Huelva, Pilar Miranda, who was accompanied by the Councilor for Sports and Youth, María de la O Rubio, and for the Presidency, Alfonso Castro. Along with them were the territorial delegate of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Junta de Andalucía, Teresa Herrera, the provincial deputy for Sports, Juan Daniel Romero, Manuel Rofa, Head of the Sports Service of the Junta de Andalucía, members of the board of directors of the Recreativo IES La Orden as well as its coaching staff and the different staff, as well as Angeles Sánchez, from the Atlantic Copper Foundation, and the vice-rector of the UHU, Joaquina Castillo.

The mayor of Huelva, Pilar Miranda, has shown “the immense joy of hosting the presentation of a special team at the City Council, of which we are very proud and which has our full support.” For the first mayor, “it is a pride that the City Council is the main sponsor of a team that is runner-up in the European Club Championship and current badminton league champion, with players who give everything in every match and who are the best a reference to the deep bond that Huelva has with badminton, a bond that is unquestionable and unstoppable.”

The Recreativo IES La Orden is “an example of what can be done with determination and a lot of effort, because it is not easy for a club that was born as an institute in a neighborhood of Huelva to reach the heights it has achieved both at the elite level and by your “I work with the quarry.” From the Huelva City Council, “we are deeply committed to supporting local sports, and in particular, badminton, a discipline that has brought great joy to our city.” All the institutional representatives present have joined in showing support for the club in a season that they trust will “arrive full of success.”

The president, María Eugenia Lorenzo, has highlighted that “this year we have been able to get a strengthened and very competitive team”, so “we want to appeal to the people of Huelva, to come support us and give us their warmth in the matches. ”. Along with this, he thanked the institutions for their constant support since “without your help it would not be possible for us to fulfill this dream every year.”

The Huelva team debuts this Saturday against Ravachol Pontevedra this Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the Andrés Estrada. It is worth remembering that Recreativo IES La Orden is the most successful club in the history of Huelva sports, with 8 League Titles and 3 medals in the European Championship: Bronze in 2016 in Tours (France); Bronze in 2019 in Luxembourg and Silver in Oviedo 2023, in addition to being the first Spanish team to qualify for the final of the European Club Championship.
