GIRONAFor once Girona had, more or less, a match in the League, in which they dominated, collected chances and could even be upset by a controversial goal disallowed by Van de Beek, soared a single shot in the foot. It was at the end of the break of the defeat in Las Palmas (1-0), when the comfort was spoiled after a specific action, which unleashed the chaos. Alejandro Francés broke, and was added to the never-ending list of injured. But instead of being clever enough to stop time until the switch could take effect, it was the Canaries who were clever, quickly putting the ball into play and scoring in the area occupied by the defence, then empty, despite Van de Beek running back trying to get there. In short, that Míchel was complaining, which is why he even saw the yellow card, because he considered that it was the referee, who was very strict throughout the afternoon, who had created this situation. And the delegate, Javier Galiano, was also complaining, absolutely desperate because the change was requested but Quintero González had denied it. And meanwhile Álex Muñoz celebrated his volley, impossible for Gazzaniga.
And the points continue to fly after the second consecutive defeat in the championship, which keeps the team in the middle-lower zone, much closer to relegation than tranquility. With a rosary of losses that has been worrying for days, with a lot of players held by forceps – Blind was a substitute and Yangel did not play so as not to force, just in case – and with the midgets in the squad showing their faces, like the cases of Selvi and Papa, who lived through his baptism.
Miovski’s lack
Boosted after the first victory in the Champions League, a competition that may end up being boring – and the Cup starts on Wednesday – but which currently serves to strengthen a too fragile state of mind, the team had Van de Beek l ‘agitator of a start in which he deserved to score a goal. But between the fact that the current offensive potential is difficult to see and that the ex-Blaugrana Cillessen was very inspired, there was nothing to do. Everything would have changed, for sure, if the referee had not invalidated a goal by Van de Beek due to a hypothetical previous foul by Miovski. The Macedonian only had a small contact with his defender, enough for him to fall to the ground exaggerating the gestures. It was alive, clearly. It should also be noted that if it had gone up on the scoreboard, the VAR would have had its say, because seconds before it is not clear whether Misehouy controls the ball inside the field or if it goes out on the touchline. But the controversy was not this.
Arnau and Miguel enjoyed a double chance, still at 0-0. It was Girona’s last attempt to unbalance the duel in their favour, because then came the misfortune of Francés, the lack of understanding when making the substitution, and the local goal. The second half was one of pure helplessness, and Juan Carlos, the substitute goalkeeper, and David Porcel, the physical trainer, ended up being sent off for swearing from the bench. All in all, a disaster.
