In particular, it was criticized for the lack of transparency in management and supervision in that the Korea Tennis Association’s exclusion of the Used Tennis Federation was a legitimate procedure approved by the Korea Sports Council, but it took issue with this and suspended the election.
In a meeting between officials of the Korea Sports Council and the Tennis Association on November 27, 2023, Chairman Lee Ki-heung claimed that “the election should be stopped in accordance with the guidelines of the Sports Ethics Center,” but this was confirmed to be a non-existent guideline. Even though the Sports Ethics Center is an independent organization and has no obligation to report to the sports president, it was revealed that Chairman Lee Ki-heung attempted to stop the election for this reason.
Meanwhile, Rep. Park criticized Chairman Lee Ki-heung for “applying a double standard,” referring to the fact that two reports have been received and are being investigated by the Sports Ethics Center on charges of abuse of authority and election interference.
Representative Park emphasized, “Korea Sports Association Chairman Lee Ki-heung is responsible for suspending the Korea Tennis Association by-election without a clear legal basis through lies and perjury,” adding, “Chairman Lee must be held accountable for his false statements and incorrect administrative actions.” .
