Report 2nd game weekend Regionalliga Southeast: SG runners-up remain unbeaten – News

Thanks to the 5:3 success at the new bottom team ESV Flugelrad Nürnberg and the well-deserved 4:4 draw at Tiitel co-favorites TSV Niederwürschnitz, Schorndorf’s Bundesliga reserves are moving upwards. Benedikt Tausch and Marco Weese shone with four triumphs each and laid the foundation for the strong points haul.

Fully arrived in the league: After three games it became clear that SG II will play a good role in the Southeast Regional League this season. “Our performances are promising and are paying off,” said press spokesman Michael Bothner, describing the start of the season. “We are fully involved in the tight first half and are striving to continue to move up.”

In Nuremberg, the team’s success was basically never in danger. Although all games with women’s participation went to the representatives from Franconia, in the other comparisons the Daimlerstadt team ensured clear results – 5:3.
This tendency was evident from the beginning. Especially in the second men’s doubles, captain Julian Kramer/Weese showed no signs of weakness against the Sushant Raut/Javier Garay-Grabes who stepped in. Simon Kramer/Tausch had to stretch a little more, but they also clearly checkmated Kevin Baum/Lukas Schäf in two sets. Esin Habiboglou/Ramona Zimmermann, however, struggled in vain against Xingzhu Li/Sarah Nickel. As a result, the Bundesliga reserves increased their lead. Tausch and Weese only left a few tricks to Schäf and Samuel Maschauer respectively. Flugelrad gained some hope of something countable thanks to the success in the women’s singles from Nickel over Habiboglou, but S. Kramer completely turned the lid on in the top singles. Nuremberg managed to correct the result thanks to their narrow success in the mixed doubles. Li/Maschauer kept their nose in the lead against Zimmermann/Joem Joselal. With their first win of the season, SG II moved into the top half of the live table and traveled to the nominal top game in Saxony with a lot of tailwind

In the game against co-favorites TSV Niederwürschnitz, SG II was basically behind from the start and saved a well-deserved point with an energetic performance. Ann-Kathrin Graf/Habiboglou had no chance against Anja Hübner/Annika Schreiber – 0:1. The immediate equalizer was achieved by S. Kramer/Tausch, who took the lead from Pit Hofmann/Konstantin Hack – 1:1. Hübner put his own colors back in the lead by safely triumphing over Habiboglou – 1:2. The second men’s doubles became the key game. In the very close comparison, Willi Jugel/David Kaiser had the chance to give Niederwürschnitz a 3-1 lead. Weese/J. Kramer, however, had something against it and was by no means discouraged by being down a set. After winning the second round, the SG duo showed strong nerves in the final phase and equalized 2:2 at 21:19.
The importance of this success emerges from the further course of the game. Schreiber/Hack left Graf/Joselal out in the cold – 2:3. Hofmann took revenge in the top singles after a completely sleepy first round with S. Kramer for the defeat in the doubles and made it 4:2 for the Saxon representation. If the second men’s double had been lost, there would already have been a shift in the shaft at this point. At the same time, SG II’s skins seemed to float away. But Tausch and Weese fished them into dry land. With his fourth individual success this weekend, Tausch reestablished the connection and ensured the classic final – 3:4. In this, it initially looked like a confident affair for Weese. After winning the first round, things got tighter, but the original Schorndorfer was on the verge of an important triumph with a score of 20:18. However, Maxime Monette fended off both match points and grabbed the set equalizer and the momentum at 22:20. Weese quickly recovered from this, took the scepter of action back into his hands and crossed the finish line with a confident 21:15 set win – to the well-deserved 4:4 equalizer.

Thanks to this extremely important point gain, the Schorndorf badminton artists are currently in fifth place in the table with 4:2 points. It is important to note that both league leader TV 1862 Dillingen and second-placed Niederwürschnitz have already played one more game. On October 19th/20th, 2024, the team around captain J, Kramer has a great chance to establish themselves at the top against SG TSV Diedorf/TSV Haunstetten and in the top game with table leaders TV 1862 Dillingen.
