Rojas leaves Game 3 with persistent leg discomfort

SAN DIEGO — Miguel Rojas He tried to play with pain in his left leg, but on Tuesday in Game 3 of the National League Division Series between the Dodgers and the Padres, he couldn’t take it anymore.

Dealing with a left adductor tear for several weeks, the Venezuelan shortstop from Los Angeles left Tuesday’s game after feeling more pain in his leg.

In the second inning, playing shortstop, he was seen moving in an irregular manner. That prompted manager Dave Roberts and the Dodgers’ physical trainer to visit him in the infield, but the veteran remained in the game. Then in the first part of the third inning, Rojas started the inning with a single. Later, with Rojas on second, Mookie Betts hit a single to right-center field that normally would have scored a run. But Rojas was clearly limited and stayed on third base.

Immediately afterwards, Roberts went out onto the field to take out Rojas, who was replaced by Cuban Andy Pagés as runner. Two batters later, Dominican Teóscar Hernández would clear the bases with a grand slam off Padres starter Michael King.
