At the end of the crisis tunnel, Rome sees a light again. After the home defeat against Inter and the heavy 5-1 defeat of Florence last Sunday, the Giallorossi found the joy of three points again, defeating Torino with a goal from Dybala in the first half. With a show of pride, the hosts also strengthened the position of coach Ivan Juric, at risk of being sacked before the match, moving up to 13th in the standings, one point behind the Granata.

WHAT A RHYTHM

Against his former team Juric has to give up a feverish Dovbyk and leaves Pellegrini (sore ankle) and Cristante on the bench: Dybala at the center of the attack, supported in the midfield by Baldanzi and Pisilli. Vanoli, however, having recovered Sosa, relies on the creativity of Ricci to shuffle the Giallorossi’s cards and on the Sanabria-Adams attacking duo, immediately “taken over” by Ndicka and Mancini. The initiative at the start belongs to the hosts, who revolve around La Joya present in every area of the attacking front. The Argentine goes down in the area in the 16th minute due to contact with Maripan in the penalty area, but there is nothing for Fabbri and the match continues. It is the prelude to Roma’s goal scored by an inspired Dybala in the 20th minute: on Linetty’s back pass towards Milinkovic-Savic, the Giallorossi number 21 anticipates the goalkeeper, goes around him and from a tight angle scores the goal that unlocks the game. Masina’s recovery attempt was useless as he reached the ball but was unable to remove it from the target while running. For the South American attacking midfielder it is the first goal from open play of the season after the penalty converted against Udinese. Toro’s reaction is felt with a more continuous play in the sixteen meters and in the 35th minute, in the melee, Maripan hits the header from close range, enhancing the reflexes of Svilar who is confident in the catch. Two minutes later Vojvoda also tries, fed by Ricci, but the inside-right cross shot ends up on the bottom a few centimeters from the post to the right of the Roma goalkeeper.

THE CHANGES

In the second half, Vanoli replaces Gineitis and inserts Njie, while Juric confirms the starting eleven by asking his team to keep the pace high. In the 6th minute, at the end of a prolonged action by Roma, Dybala lets the ball flow and it reaches Pisilli, who enters the area and hits the post with his right foot, but Fabbri stops the game due to an offside by Angelino. Minutes pass and the Toro coach decides to play the cards with Vlasic and Pedersen, who came on in the 14th minute in place of Sanabria and Maripan: on the opposite side, Pisilli comes out 2′ after and Pellegrini comes on (once again whistled by the Curva). The guests become dangerous with the new entry Njie, who does well to take time from Mancini and unloads a right-footed shot which puts the usual Svilar to the test. At a certain point, tempers flare up and the referee expels the Toro team manager Andreini for protesting, while yellow cards begin to pour in on the pitch. The substitutions, meanwhile, continue between the 33rd and 35th minutes: Juric makes Dybala, Baldanzi and Zalewski take a breath and brings in Shomurodov, Cristante and El Shaarawy, Vanoli also relies on Karamoh (in place of Linetty) to accentuate the rate of danger from his team and a few minutes later he also throws Tameze into the fray for Vojvoda. Roma resisted the latest attacks from the guests and brought home an important victory which, however, did not stop the boos at the Olimpico.
