Rugby: former Clermont player Jonathan Davies retires

Former Welsh, British Lions and Clermont international center Jonathan Davies has announced his retirement from sport at the age of 36. Davies ends a career with 96 caps and four victories in the Six Nations Tournament, including two Grand Slams (2012, 2019).

“After taking a step back from the game, and following the end of my last season with the Scarlets (Welsh club), I made the decision to put an end to my career as a professional rugby player,” the player wrote on Instagram. I will miss the atmosphere of training, competition and the bond with my teammates, but in recent months I have been able to take stock of a career of which I am incredibly proud. »

Davies left his club Scarlets at the end of last season, a team with which he scored 55 tries. As well as his career with Wales, which saw him appear in two World Cups, Davies completed two tours with the British and Irish Lions.

He also spent two seasons in the Top 14 with Clermont (2014-2016), playing in a European Cup final in 2015, lost to Toulon.
