Rugby: the League opens an investigation into the bad behavior of a player during an evening

This is a new affair that the world of rugby would have done well without. According to L’Équipe, the League’s disciplinary and regulations committee has opened an investigation for “bad behavior on the part of a player during Rugby Night“.

The facts date back to September 23, on the sidelines of Rugby Night and concern Samuel Marques. That evening, in front of the elite of French rugby, the AS Bézier scrum half received the trophy for best ProD2 player. The 35-year-old had, like many, continued the evening in an establishment in the 9th arrondissement.

Still according to information from L’Équipe, the Portuguese international, drunk, attacked a hostess who refused to serve him alcohol. And for good reason: his stand only offered fruit juices. Marques then lost his temper and threw his drink in the young girl’s face before spitting on her. The hostess apparently decided not to file a complaint but informed her manager of the scene of revolting violence.

The Bézier player should quickly be summoned before the League’s disciplinary committee to explain this slip-up. He risks a suspension of several weeks. His club is currently in turmoil. On Thursday, one of its players, Hand Nkinsi, convicted in April 2023 for domestic violence, was again targeted by a similar complaint. At the beginning of October, it was the wife of the center Taleta Tupuola who filed a complaint against her husband for violence.
