The Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka regains the place of world number 1, according to the WTA ranking published Monday, and dethrones the Polish Iga Swiatek who had been in control since November 2023. Sabalenka had briefly held the first place in the ranking for eight weeks in September and October 2023 before Swiatek gets his property back.

Neither player played last week but Swiatek lost more points (-120) than Sabalenka (-10). The Russian Daria Kasatkina, victorious on Sunday in the WTA 500 in Ningbo (China), returns to the top 10 (9th) for the first time since July 2023.

Finalist Mirra Andreeva, 17 years old and a hopeful Russian tennis player, continues her progression in the rankings and gains two places (17th). Among the French, Caroline Garcia, who announced at the end of September that she was ending her season, is still the N.1 tricolor (43rd). But Diane Parry, semi-finalist in Osaka (Japan), is getting closer and enters the top 50 (50th), one place from her best ranking reached last April.
