SBB organizes National (Youth) Championships

The Surinamese Badminton Association (SBB) will organize the National (Youth) Badminton Championships on October 19 and 20 and on November 2 and 3 in the Ring Sport CenterSuriname on the Ringweg Noord.

Dhis annual event is a highlight on the calendar of Surinamese badminton sport and is part of the National Badminton Circuit of Suriname. During these championships, the country’s best players compete to be crowned in their respective categories. The tournament is spread over two weekends. On October 19 and 20, games will be played in the U-11, U-15, U-19 and B-class categories, with 100 players registered to compete. The U-13, U-17 and A-Class categories are on the program on November 2 and 3.

The first edition of the National Championships in Suriname took place in 1966. Since then, this prestigious tournament has been organized annually, with the exception of the years 1971, 1986, 1989, 2002, 2007 and 2020, when it could not take place for various organizational reasons. In 2000, the championship was divided into two categories: the A-Class for the strongest elite players and the B-Class for recreational players. Together with the National Championships, the SBB also organizes the annual National Youth Championships, in which young talents can shine.

The Surinamese Badminton Association is the national sports organization responsible for promoting and developing badminton in Suriname. The association aims to create opportunities for players of all ages and levels to participate in the sport and offers a variety of events to achieve this.
The tournament will start at 9:00 am and admission is completely free.
